Chris Wiens joined the Spartans originally in January 2012, and will be returning this fall for his second full season with the Trinity Western men’s hockey team.

Wiens, who graduated from TWU in 1998 with a BBA, played for the TWU men’s hockey team from 1995-1998 and was the captain in his final season. Following his graduation, Wiens went behind the TWU bench and coached the team to a league championship in 1998-99.

Over the past 15 years, Wiens has served as the director of Athletes in Action Hockey, directing summer hockey schools across B.C. and Alberta.

Also with AIA, Wiens has directed, coached or played on 12 international hockey tours – on teams made up of junior and college players – to Russia, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Latvia.

He has also recently assisted in chaplaincy with Langley’s BCHL team and the Vancouver Canucks.

Wiens’ playing career saw him play up to Midget “AAA” in Camrose, Alta. before coming to TWU in 1994.

He resides in Langley with his wife Serenity and their three-year-old daughter. He is currently working on his MBA and plans to finish in the fall of 2013.
