TWU Spartans (1) vs. Western Washington University (3)

LANGLEY, British Columbia
– the Trinity Western University men’s soccer team fell 3-1 to the visiting NCAA Div. II Western Washington University Vikings in a spirited friendly Tuesday evening in Langley, B.C.

The Spartans coach Pat Rohla used almost completely different line-ups in the first and second half to get a good look at all the players he has in camp.

TWU had quality chances in the first half, but were unable to get an early marker on the board.

In the second half the Vikings came out strong and scored two goals before the midway point of the half.

TWU battled back and defender Jason Wiens (Coaldale, Alta.) was able to get the Spartans within one with less than 10 minutes remaining. But, with the TW squad pushing forward, WW as able to get the insurance goal as they took advantage of a counter attack with under five minutes remaining to secure the 3-1 win.

The Spartans have a training day tomorrow and then will head on the road for their annual swing of the Pacific Northwest. They will head to Seattle University on Aug. 21, Oregon State on Aug. 23, Washington on Aug. 25 and Gonzaga on Sept. 1 before returning home to host Simon Fraser on Sept. 4.
