GOLDEN BEARS SWEEP SPARTANS

KELOWNA, British Columbia - The Trinity Western University men's volleyball team ended their two match tour of the Okanagan with a 3-0 loss to the University of Alberta Friday evening at UBC-Okanagan.

The Spartans were not able to match the Golden Bears offensive power tonight as the fell 25-20, 25-21 and 25-20. TWU was close through the first three quarters of the sets, but fell behind as the teams reached 20 points.

"We played about the same as we did last night, but they played much better, which was probably the difference," commented TWU head coach Ben Josephson. "From a defensive perspective it was a good night, from an offensive it was not a very good night. Their serves were much more consistent and that put us under some pressure, which hampered our offense."

The Spartans will scrimmage UBC-Okanagan tomorrow before heading back to Langley to continue preparation for the start of Canada West. "1-1 against Alberta going into this trip is probably better then we were expecting, but we were hoping to do better then a 3-0 showing tonight. But we are excited to move on and get better," added Josephson.

Next up for the Spartans is a tour with Thompson Rivers University. The Spartans will battle the WolfPack Oct. 2-4 playing in Kamloops, Quesnel and Prince George.
