SPARTANS STILL SITTING ON TOP
-Both Spartans soccer teams remain No. 1

OTTAWA (CIS)
– For the third straight week the Trinity Western University men’s and women’s soccer team lead the CIS top ten rankings.

In women’s soccer, reigning CIS champion Trinity Western (7-1) remains atop the rankings for the seventh time in as many polls this fall despite suffering its first loss of the regular season last Friday, a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of No. 4-Victoria (6-1-2). The Spartans rebounded on Saturday with a 2-0 shutout of Fraser Valley.

The Montreal Carabins (8-0) were off on Thanksgiving weekend and remain at No. 2 for the seventh straight week.

Rounding out the new Top 10 are No. 3-Ottawa (10-1-2), No. 5-Wilfrid Laurier (8-1-1), No. 6-Queen’s (10-1-1), No. 7-Dalhousie (5-0-2), No. 8-Cape Breton (5-1-2), No. 9-Toronto (9-1-2) and No. 10-Manitoba (5-2-1).

In men’s soccer, 2008 CIS finalist Trinity Western (6-0-3) leads the coaches poll for the third consecutive week after a 2-1 over Victoria – ranked No. 5 going into the duel – and a scoreless draw against Fraser Valley.

The Montreal Carabins (5-1-1), who enjoyed a bye week, are at No. 2 for the third straight week, while the defending national champion York Lions (6-2-2) move up one position to No. 3.

Rounding out the new Top 10 are No. 4-Dalhousie (6-0-1), No. 5-Alberta (5-1-2), No. 6-Toronto (8-1-2), No. 7-UPEI (5-2), No. 8-UBC (6-3), No. 9-UNB (3-2-3) and No. 10-Guelph (5-4-1).
