Trinity Western second-year left side Steven Marshall help lead the No. 10 Spartans to a weekend sweep of No. 7 UBC T-Birds. The General Studies student was strong on offence and defence, finishing the weekend with 32 kills, 31 digs, five blocks and three aces.

The Abbotsford, B.C. native was instrumental in Trinity Western defeating the Thunderbirds 3-2 (21-25, 25-22, 25-22, 20-25, 15-9) on Friday night and 3-1 (20-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-14) on Saturday night. On Friday he finished with 19 kills, 14 digs, four blocks and two aces in the five set match. He followed it up with 13 kills, 17 digs , one block and one ace on Saturday.

Marshall, who is a member of Canada’s U-21 Beach National team, sits eighth in Canada West in kills per game at 3.56 and third in digs per game at 3.44.

The Spartans will have an off week before putting their 2-0 record to the test Nov. 13-14 when they host the No. 9 Brandon Bobcats.
