SPARTANS ON THE ROAD FOR FINAL CANADA WEST GAMES

LANGLEY, British Columbia
– In the final weekend of Canada West league play the Trinity Western University basketball and volleyball teams are on the road for crucial games with play-off implications on the line.

The Spartan volleyball teams are in Thompson Rivers to face the WolfPack. Game time on Friday and Saturday are set for 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. While the basketball teams are at Point Grey on Saturday night to take on the UBC Thunderbirds with game times scheduled for 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

The volleyball teams have secured a play-off spot going into the weekend series with the WolfPack, but home court advantage are on the line this weekend. For the 11-7 women’s team a two game sweep of TRU will give the Spartans home court for the first round of the play-offs, which would have them hosting Regina, Brandon or Alberta. On the men’s side the 10-6 Spartans need a sweep of the WolfPack and help from others for them to host the first round of the play-offs.

In basketball the 9-8 men’s team needs a win against the University of British Columbia or a loss by the University of Victoria to Simon Fraser University for the Spartans to earn fourth spot in the Pacific Division. TWU would then be eligible for the wild card process against the University of Lethbridge for the final Canada West play-off spot. The 5-12 women’s team has already looked down the fourth place spot in the Pacific Division, but are in tough against the University of Calgary and the University of Lethbridge in the wild card process as TWU has lost to both Calgary and Lethbridge earlier this year.
