A LOOK AT THE WEEK AHEAD FOR THE TWU SPARTANS

LANGLEY, British Columbia
– This week in Spartan action the men’s soccer team plays at home, while the women’s soccer, men’s hockey, and women’s volleyball teams all compete on the road.

The No. 4 Trinity Western University Spartan women’s soccer team embark on a short British Columbia road trip, as they visit the unranked University of Victoria Vikes and University of the Fraser Valley Cascades, Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

Trinity Western (5-1) experienced their first setback of the season last Sunday against the undefeated No. 4 University of Alberta Pandas (6-0), ending up on the losing end in a hard-fought 3-2 game. The night before, the Spartan women easily dispatched the unranked University of Saskatchewan Huskies in a 4-0 match.

The Vikes (2-0-2) welcome Trinity Western to a field that last week saw the University of Victoria edge the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades in a one goal game.

That match marked the second loss in as many weeks for the Cascades (1-3) versus a strong University of Victoria team.

The Spartans game in Victoria on Saturday, October 2 starts at 12 p.m. and is broadcast live online on VikesTV at http://www.sportscanada.tv/index.php/uvic-vikes-athletics.

On Sunday, October 3 the Spartans proceed to Abbotsford, B.C. to take on the Cascades, with a 12 p.m. kickoff.

Trinity Western’s No. 10 men’s soccer team welcomes the prairies to Rogers Park as the unranked University of Saskatchewan Huskies and No. 4 University of Alberta Golden Bears travel to Langley, B.C.

The Spartan men (2-1-2) most recently played to a 1-1 tie with the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns in Lethbridge, Alta., before moving on to the University of Calgary where the Dinos and Spartans battled to a scoreless draw.

The University of Saskatchewan Huskies (3-1-2) are in the middle of a British Columbia road trip, having most recently taken on the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades and the University of Victoria Vikes. In Abbotsford, B.C., the Huskies fought for a 2-1 win.  The next day against the Vikes, the Huskies tied 1-1.

Both home games can be watched live at SpartansTV http://www.educationcdn.com/schools/spartans/.  Live stats are available at http://livestats.prestosports.com/trinitywestern/.

The newly-minted Trinity Western University Spartans hockey team (1-0) embarks on their first road trip of the season to visit the Okanagan College Coyotes in Kelowna, B.C. The Spartans visit Okanagan for the Coyotes home opener, on October 2, with puck drop set for 9 p.m.

Last weekend the Spartans looked comfortable in their new jerseys as they took down the University of the Fraser Valley team in a thrilling 5-4 contest. After this successful start to the BCIHL season, they hosted the Aldergrove Kodiaks, of the PIJHL, in an exhibition game, resulting in a winning 7-3 effort.

The Okanagan College Coyotes fell to Thompson Rivers University 7-1 in their season opener Saturday September 25.

In Volleyball action, the Spartan women travel south of the border this week to continue their preseason. Starting in Portland, Ore. on Tuesday, September 28 at 7 p.m. the Spartan women take on the University of Portland.  TW then moves to the University of Portland for another 7 p.m. match on Wednesday, September 29.  To conclude the journey, the Spartans travel north to Seattle to compete against Seattle University on September 30, with game time set for 7 p.m.
