LANGLEY, British Columbia
– This week in Spartan action there is a variety of different contests at a number of different venues, including soccer post season games.  In post season play, the women’s soccer team competes in the Canada West Final Four in Edmonton. Closer to home, the men’s and women’s volleyball teams both host the Thompson Rivers Wolf Pack for the Spartan home opener. While the Spartans basketball teams travel to Kamloops, B.C. to take on the Wolf Pack.

After garnering wins on the road against the No. 1 University of Alberta Pandas and unranked University of Saskatchewan, the No. 9 Spartans (9-3-2) return to Foote Field in Edmonton for the Canada West Final Four. The Spartans 2-1 win over the Pandas and 2-0 shutout over the Huskies clinched them a spot in the post season and second position in Canada West standings.

The Spartans will first take on the unranked University of the Fraser Valley Cascades (8-5-1) in the Final Four. The Cascades are coming off of a strong weekend at home in Abbotsford, B.C. that saw UFV overcome the University of Calgary and the University of Lethbridge 3-1 and 3-0 respectively.

The Spartans match against the Cascades begins at 12 noon MDT at Foote Field in Edmonton. The winner will advance to Sunday’s Canada West Championship and earn an automatic berth at the CIS Championships in P.E.I.
