A LOOK AT THE WEEK AHEAD FOR THE TWU SPARTANS

LANGLEY, British Columbia
–This week in Spartans action, the volleyball and basketball teams will match up against the University  of Alberta in a home and home weekend. The Spartan volleyball teams will head to Edmonton for four road matches, while the basketball teams host the Pandas and Golden Bears at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, B.C.

The No. 4 Spartan women’s volleyball team looks to continue their winning streak against the No. 7 University of Alberta Pandas. The Spartans boast a 6-0 record following their road trip to then No. 9 Regina last weekend. The Spartans knocked off the Cougars with 3-1 and 3-2 matches last weekend, including a record matching game on Saturday night.  

The Pandas come into the weekend with a 1-3 record, after battling to a weekend split against the No. 2 Brandon University Bobcats. In Edmonton, the Pandas won the first match 3-2, before dropping a match 3-1 to the Bobcats.

The Spartans and Pandas meet at 8 p.m. MST on Friday, and 6:30 p.m. MST on Saturday. Live stats are available at http://livestats.prestosports.com/alberta/, and live streaming coverage can be found at http://ssncanada.ca/.

Also travelling to Edmonton is the No. 4 Spartan men’s volleyball team, which brings a 5-1 record to the court when they take on the No. 1 University of Alberta Golden Bears. The Spartans had a weekend sweep against the unranked University of Regina Cougars with 3-1 and 3-0 wins last weekend.  

In Edmonton, the Golden Bears remain undefeated in Canada West, and No. 1 in the CIS. Last weekend the University of Alberta played at home against the Brandon University Bobcats, winning 3-2 and 3-1.

The match on Friday starts at 6:30 p.m. MST, and 8 p.m. MST on Saturday. Live stats and streaming coverage are provided by the University of Alberta, with stats at at http://livestats.prestosports.com/alberta/ and video coverage at http://ssncanada.ca/.

In basketball action, the unranked Spartan women’s basketball team is hosting the unranked University of Alberta Pandas in Langley, B.C. The Spartans dropped two last weekend against the No.3 University of Regina Cougars falling 72-51 and 74-47.

The Pandas (5-1) are coming off of two dominating performances against the University of Brandon Bobcats, winning  93-56 and 99-53 in Brandon.

The women’s basketball games take place on Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 5 p.m. at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, B.C. Live stats and video coverage can be found at the Spartans website, gospartans.ca.

Meanwhile, the No. 8 Spartan men’s basketball team welcomes the unranked University of Alberta Golden Bears to the court in Langley, B.C. At home last weekend, the Spartans swept the University of Regina Cougars with two strong wins, 100-60 and 79-55.

But the Spartans meet a tough opponent in the Golden Bears, who hold a 5-1 record including two wins against the Brandon Bobcats last weekend. The Golden Bears prevailed with 81-71 and 89-75 over the Bobcats in Brandon.

The Golden Bears and Spartans hit the hardwood on Friday at 8 p.m. and Saturday at 7 p.m.  Games take place at the Langley Events Centre, Langley B.C.  The Spartans provide live stats and streaming video coverage at gospartans.ca.
