A LOOK AT THE WEEK AHEAD FOR THE TWU SPARTANS

LANGLEY, British Columbia
–This week in Spartans action, the Spartans basketball and volleyball teams take on the University of Winnipeg Wesmen. The basketball teams play in Winnipeg, while the volleyball teams compete in Langley, B.C. On the ice, the Spartans hockey team will battle Selkirk College at home.

In women’s basketball action, the unranked Spartans basketball team (1-8) will take on the unranked University of Winnipeg (5-2) at the court in Winnipeg on Friday and Saturday.  

Trinity Western faced a tough opponent last weekend in the University of Alberta Pandas, and came out on the losing end of two games. The Spartans fell in 66-40 and 63-48 games at home in Langley, B.C.

The University of Winnipeg team is coming off of two games against the University of Saskatchewan Huskies, in which the Huskies beat the Wesmen with scores of 74-54 and 90-62.

The teams will square off on Friday and Saturday, at 6 p.m. CST in Winnipeg. The University of Winnipeg hosts live streaming video at http://cwuaa.tv/.

On the men’s side, the No. 7 Spartans (8-2) are sharing the top ranking in Canada West with UBC. Trinity Western battles the Wesmen (1-6) this weekend – a team facing a five game losing streak.

Most recently, the Spartans managed two wins over the University of Alberta Golden Bears, with scores of 96-83 and 89-78.

The Wesmen played the Saskatchewan Huskies last weekend, and came out on the losing end of 99-48 and 115-63 games.

The Spartans and Wesmen hit the court at 8 p.m. CST on both Friday and Saturday. Games can be viewed online at http://cwuaa.tv/.

At home in Langley, B.C., the No. 2 Spartan women’s volleyball team will match up against the unranked Wesmen at the Langley Events Centre.

The Spartans (7-1) last played a strong University of Alberta team in Edmonton. The Spartans came away with a weekend split, including their first loss of the season.  Scores for the matches were a 3-2 win and 0-3 loss.

The Wesmen (3-4) garnered two wins against Saskatchewan last weekend, with two 3-1 matches while playing in Winnipeg.

The two teams will meet at the Langley Events Centre at 6 p.m. on Friday and 5 p.m. on Saturday.  Live streaming video and live stats are available at gospartans.ca

The No. 4 Spartan men’s volleyball team (6-2) takes on unranked Winnipeg Wesmen in Langley, B.C. this weekend.  

Playing in Edmonton last weekend, the Spartans came away from their games with a weekend split versus the No. 1 Golden Bears, with match scores of 3-0 and 1-3.  

The Wesmen currently sit in the Canada West basement, with a 1-6 record. Last weekend against the University of Saskatchewan, the Wesmen fell 1-3 before rallying for their first in of the season in a 3-0 marker.

The Spartans and Wesmen battle on Friday at 8 p.m. and Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, B.C. Live stats and streaming video can be found at the Spartan’s website, gospartans.ca.

In BCIHL play, the Spartan men’s hockey team (2-5) plays host to Selkirk College (1-9) on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Langley Events Centre.

The Spartans last weekend in play resulted in a 4-4 tie versus the University of the Fraser Valley and a 5-4 loss playing at Thompson Rivers.

Selkirk College last played Okanagan College to a 4-3 Selkirk loss, before which the Saints played Thompson Rivers and lost 8-5.

The Saints and Spartans hit the ice at 1 p.m. at the Langley Events Centre, Langley, B.C.  Live streaming video is available at gospartans.ca
