TWU men’s teams move up

OTTAWA (CIS
) – After a strong Spartan Classic Tournament and a double win weekend in Victoria the Trinity Western University men’s volleyball and basketball teams have moved up in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport Blackberry Top Ten Rankings.

The TWU men’s volleyball team defeated the defending CIS champion Calgary Dinos 3-0 in the final of the tournament and as a result jumped over the University of Calgary to place third in the rankings. The Spartans men’s basketball team extended their winning streak to a program tying 12 games with 86-84 and 74-65 wins against the University of Victoria last weekend to jump to a new program high of fifth in the rankings.

TWU’s women’s volleyball team, who were idle over the holiday break remain fixed at No. 2.

Topping the CIS rankings are Carleton (men’s basketball), UBC (women’s volleyball), Laval (men’s volleyball) and Calgary (women’s & men’s swimming) all hold on to their No. 1 rankings, while UNB (men’s hockey), Calgary (women’s track and field), Ottawa (men’s track and field) and Saskatchewan (women’s basketball) are new national leaders this week.
