SPARTANS MEN’S VOLLEYBALL TIED AT NO. 1, WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL NO. 5

LANGLEY, British Columbia – The Trinity Western men’s volleyball team will open up the second semester tied with McMaster at No. 1 in the CIS Top 10, while the Spartans women’s volleyball team will begin its stretch drive at No. 5. Neither the Spartans men’s nor the women’s basketball teams were ranked.

After winning its final four regular season contests of the fall semester, the men’s volleyball team (11-1) returns to the court Jan. 10-11 when it will host Mount Royal at the Langley Events Centre.

The women’s volleyball team (8-4) finished the first semester with victories in six of its final seven matches and, like the men, will resume its Canada West schedule Jan. 10-11 when it hosts Mount Royal.

The men’s basketball team (5-5) is coming off a three-game exhibition trip in California where it went 1-2, beating Biola but losing to Cal State San Marcos and Vanguard. The Spartans open their winter semester on the road against Manitoba Jan. 10 and Winnipeg Jan. 11.

The women’s basketball team (1-9) played a pair of post-Christmas exhibition contests but lost both, falling to Simon Fraser and Thompson Rivers. The Spartans also resume their league schedule on the road against Manitoba Jan. 10 and Winnipeg Jan. 11.
