Women's Basketball (exhibition)
November 27, 1999
T.W.U. Spartans (69) vs. Skagit Valley Community College (57)

TWU Stays Spotless in Exhibition

Langley, British Columbia - They persevered through the end. The Trinity Western University women's basketball team stayed in front of Skagit Valley Community College on November 27 to earn an exhibition win. The Spartans finished the game leading 69-57 and remain unbeaten in exhibition play.

The Spartans and Cardinals played even most of the first half, but TWU was able to jump out to a 6 point halftime lead. TWU was able to sustain and add to their lead the entire second half to defeat Skagit Valley. Denise Page led the Spartans with her 19 points and 6 rebounds. Katie Hall added 15 points and 8 rebounds for TWU. Shea Terry chipped in 10 points for the Spartans.

"Skagit has beaten Trinity Western in the past, so it was good we were able to step up. We didn't start the game doing the small things, but then we were able to in the second half," noted Head Coach Rebecca Hays.

"They started playing zone and we were able to read it. The offside was wide open and we were able to get some good looks," continued Hays.

Hays added, "Katie is a real consistent player and has been one of our best all year. Denise was hitting well tonight and that was due, in part, to them playing their zone defense."

The Spartans are back to Canada West action on December 3-4, as they host the University of Manitoba. The Spartans will take their 2-4 league record to the test in their last games before the Christmas break. Game time both nights will be 6:15 p.m.
