Langley, British Columbia - The Trinity Western University women's basketball suffered its second consecutive loss to the University of Manitoba on Saturday, falling to the Bisons 89-53.

The Spartans made it a close game in the first half as they were within 5 points with 6 minutes remaining. But than the momentum shifted in favor of the Bisons as they went on a 16-5 run to lead 43-27 at half time.

The Bisons pulled away in the second half, shooting 56.8% from field goal range and never looked back. Meanwhile, the Spartans struggled with their shooting in the 2nd half, and could only manage 37.5% in field goals.

Third year guard Christie Bigelow (Lynden, WA) led the Spartans with 14 points, going 4-8 from the 3 point line. "Cristie is stepping up our game and playing strong basketball," said TWU head coach Rebecca Hays.

The Bisons were led by Melissa Stoesz 13 points, 5 rebounds and Lynda Guy 13 points.

Next up for the Spartans, at Simon Fraser University Friday, November 3. Game time is set for 6:30 PM.
