TWU Spartans (40) vs. Brandon University Bobcats (67)

That's Cold!

Langley, British Columbia - The Trinity Western University women's basketball team was so cold from the floor Friday night that they probably thought they were playing the Brandon Bobcats in Brandon, MB instead of the usually warm confines of Trinity Western University's David E. Enarsen Gymnasium.

The Spartans managed only 27.9% shooting from the field in their 67-40 loss to the Bobcats. While the Bobcats led by Patty Wood's (4th year, forward, Winnipeg, MB) 24 points, 10 for 12 shooting, were quite comfortable on the West Coast. The Bobcats shot a sizzling 46.3% from the field, 42.9% from behind the arc and 93.3% from the foul line.

"It was one of those night's where no matter what you try you can't make a shot," said TWU head coach Rebecca Hays. "We were a little tired coming into tonight's game and that probably contributed to our poor shooting percentage."

The Spartans actually held the lead 12-11 with 10 minutes to go in the first half. But that's when the wind chill set in as the Bobcats went on a 15-1 run and closed out the half up 29-19.

With 12 minutes to go in the game the Spartans had not been able to cut into the Bobcats lead and still trailed by 10 points, 40-30. Three minutes later the game was virtually over as the Bobcats had just finished a 10-0 run and were up 50-30.

The Bobcats finished the game with a final 17-10 run to make the final score 67-40.

The Bobcats were led by Wood - 24 points and 9 rebounds and Melissa Moore (3rd year, forward, North Vancouver, BC) - 14 points and 7 rebounds.

The Spartans were led by Heidi DeHaan (1st year, guard/forward, Lynden, WA) - 13 points and 4 rebounds, Trina Nelson (3rd year, forward, Lynden, WA) - 8 points and 6 rebounds and Heidi Frandrup (4th year, forward, Newport, WA) - 8 points and 6 rebounds.

The two teams play again tomorrow night, Saturday, November 25. Game time is set for 6:00 PM at Trinity Western University in Langley, BC.
