LANGLEY, British Columbia – The Trinity Western women’s soccer team will once again be well-represented this summer on the international stage as four Spartans were named to the Canadian roster for the 2013 Summer Universiade in Kazan, Russia (July 6-17).

VICTORIA – Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. PST at Centennial Stadium in Victoria the CIS women’s soccer championship will kick off between the No. 2 Trinity Western University Spartans and the No. 6 Queen’s University Gaels.

VICTORIA – The Trinity Western women’s soccer team had four players, one from each position on the pitch, named CIS All-Canadians, with defender Colleen Webber (Calgary), striker Krista Gommeringer (Calgary) and goalkeeper Kristen Funk (Calgary) earning First Team honours and midfielder Natalie Boyd (Surrey, B.C.) earning Second Team honours Wednesday at the All-Canadian banquet at the Harbour Towers Hotel.

LANGLEY, British Columbia – For the second year in a row the Trinity Western women’s soccer team will enter the CIS national tournament as champions of Canada West. After beating Victoria 2-1 in the gold medal match on home soil and earning their fifth conference championship, the Spartans earned their fourth trip to the CIS tournament in the past five years.
SPARTANS OPEN AGAINST LAURIER AT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

OTTAWA – The schedule and quarter-final matchups were announced Sunday evening for the 26th CIS women’s soccer championship and the Spartans will open against Laurier Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at the University of Victoria’s Centennial Stadium.

LANGLEY, British Columbia – Trinity Western striker Krista Gommeringer (Calgary) was named the Top Rookie in Canada West women’s soccer and Spartans keeper Kristen Funk (Calgary) earned top student-athlete honours while a total of six Spartans picked up all-star nods at the awards banquet Thursday on the Trinity Western campus.

PRETORIA, South Africa – In its final two matches of its missions and training trip to Africa, the Trinity Western women’s soccer team came away with a win and a loss, falling 1-0 to South Africa’s national women’s senior team – the same one that will play in this year’s Olympic Games in London where they will face against Canada in pool play – before beating the University of Johannesburg 4-1 in its last game of the trip.
