SPARTANS DRAW CASCADES IN KEG SPRING CUP

VICTORIA - The Trinity Western University women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw with the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades in the consolation final of the Keg Spring Cup Sunday morning in Victoria.

"It was a disappointing weekend as we gave up some poor goals that we didn't need to and we are going to need to deal with it," commented TWU head coach Graham Roxburgh. "In the end it was a scrappy game and the draw was probably a fair result."

The Spartans Daniela Gerig (Fort Langley, B.C.) opened up the scoring in the 60th minute before the Cascades Megan Webster (Abbotsford, B.C.) equalized just two minutes later.

Trinity Western's Rebecca Ferguson (Calgary) set up the Spartans lone goal when she went past two Cascade defenders wide down the right side and sent a ball into the box for Gerig, who slotted it home to put TWU up 1-0.

TWU had some quality chances but were unable to capitalize on their opportunities.

Next up for the Spartans is at Western Washington University on Friday, April 3 at 5 p.m. in Bellingham, Wash. and at Seattle Pacific University on Saturday, April 4 at 1 p.m. in Seattle.
