David Carrasco

Assistant Coach


David Carrasco came to the Spartans this past fall after spending five years, from 2007 to 2012, as both an assistant coach with the University of Manitoba women’s volleyball team and the executive club director with the Junior Bison Volleyball Club.

Carrasco, who was born and raised in Winnipeg and graduated from MBCI (Mennonite Brethren Collegiate Institute) in 2004,coached club and high school volleyball until he was hired by Manitoba in 2007. During his time with the Bisons, Carrasco, most notably, helped Manitoba win both Canada West and CIS silver medals in 2010.

With the Junior Bisons, Carrasco won the national club championships twice, winning with the 17U team in 2010 and the 15U team in 2011. He also won the Manitoba provincial championship twice,winning with the Bisons 17U team in both 2009 and 2010.

From 2009-2011, Carrasco also worked with the Canadian national women’s team as the statistician scout and was part of the Canadian staff at the 2010 World Championship in Japan.

In 2012, Carrasco married former Spartans setter Lauren Carrasco (O’Reilly) and went on to spend the 2012-13 volleyball season in the Netherlands where Lauren played professionally with Irmato VC Weert.

Carrasco also has a black belt in taekwondo.
