Cold weekend in Saskatoon

Langley, British Columbia –
On Saturday, November 18 the Trinity Western University women’s volleyball team dropped their second game of the weekend to the University of Saskatchewan Huskies, 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-15).

The Spartans had a strong performance tonight, but were unable to overcome the strength of the Huskies, who are ranked 7th in the CIAU.

“We had a much better performance as individuals and as a team today,” said TWU coach Carol Hofer. “We improved on our passing which allowed us to attack more consistently. Saskatchewan is a very strong team. I am pleased that we were able to come out and play well against them.”

After dropping the first set, 25-14, the Spartans found themselves in control for much of the second set. Unfortunately, they were unable to put the game away as the Huskies came back to win 25-20.

The Huskies never allowed the Spartans into the third set as Saskatchewan went on to win the set 25-15.

The Spartans were led by Ruth Unaegbu (2nd year, middle, Port Coquitlam, BC) 7 kills, 3 digs, Lauren Suderman (4th year, rightside, North Vancouver, BC) 10 digs and Daelyn Martens (1st year, libero, Chilliwack, BC) 9 digs.

The Huskies were led by Lindsay Bothner 15 kills and Amanda Hagel 13 kills, 6 digs.

Next up for the Spartans is at the University of Manitoba, November 24-25.
