Spartans Extend Win Streak to Eight

KAMLOOPS, British Columbia –
The Trinity Western University women’s volleyball team had three players with double-doubles as the second ranked Spartans topped the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack 3-1 (25-16, 28-30, 25-15, 25-18) Saturday night in Kamloops, B.C. The win keeps TWU alone in first place in Canada West with a record of 12-2, while the loss drops TRU to 1-15. The win also extends the Spartans winning streak to eight matches.

“We had a small lull in the second set, but overall we controlled most of the match,” said TWU Head Coach Carol Hofer. “Our serving errors hurt us in the second set but overall it was another great team effort.”

Saralyn Raugust (Delia, Alta.) with 14 kills, 11 digs, Jodi Schaufele (Vancouver) with 11 kills and 11 digs and Danielle Foth (Abbotsford) with 14 kills 10 digs and four blocks led the Spartans, while Robyn Devlin with eight kills and 11 digs led the WolfPack.

The Spartans now have a week off before hosting the Simon Fraser University Clan. Match times on Friday, January 27 and Saturday, January 28 are set for 6 pm.

Match Notes: TWU had 65 kills, hitting at 26%, while TRU had 27 kills, hitting at 2%...the Spartans had 14 team blocks, while the WolfPack had nine team blocks…Anna Paddock finished the match with 53 set assists…TWU finished the match with 20 service errors and three aces…
