SPARTANS TAKE PANDAS

VANCOUVER - The Trinity Western University women's volleyball team defeated the University of Alberta Pandas 3-1 in their second match of the West Coach Classic Tournament this morning at the University of British Columbia. The win puts TWU at 2-0 in the tournament, while Alberta sits at 2-1.

The Spartans took the first set 25-17, dropped the second by the same 25-17 score and then took the third 25-18 before closing out the match with a 25-19 win in the fourth.

"We played good solid volleyball and we had good effort all around," commented TWU head coach Ryan Hofer. "We still have a lot of room for improvement in regards to our standards, but our offense was very strong today and that made up for some areas where weren't as strong."

The Spartans will finish off the tournament tomorrow with two matches at UBC. They will play the University of Calgary Dinos at 12 p.m. and then will close out the tournament with a match against the UBC Thunderbirds at 4 p.m.
