Langley, BC – The New Year ushers in a new tradition for Theatre at TWU, a festival of new works and presentations from the next generation of theatre makers. Running one week only, February 2 - 6, New Generations is a multi-faceted theatrical event featuring a diverse group of up and coming artists.

A collection of pieces generated by theatre students at TWU, New Generations showcases short works that are directed, choreographed, performed and in some cases written by current students. The evening balances emerging playwrights with award winning writers and even features an original modern dance piece. Every performance features all projects, and total running time for the production is an estimated 2.5 hours.

“We wanted to give students the opportunity to create and produce their own work,” says Angela Konrad, chair of the Theatre Department at Trinity Western University. “We are thrilled with the diversity and artistry of this year’s projects as they are sure to provide an incredibly entertaining evening that showcases the depth of talent at TWU.”

The productions in the New Generations line-up are: This Is A Play, by award winning Canadian playwright Daniel MacIvor, a play about a play about a play; Wait! a modern dance choreographed by Danae Bargen; Hymn in the Attic, by Pulitzer Prize winner Beth Henley; and two premieres by emerging TWU playwrights: Upon This Instinct I Make War, a poetic thriller by Dylan deJong and Jordan Schuurman; and Alone, With Interest, a comedy about finding confidence and confidants, by Julia Church and Christopher Nash.
