Trinity Western University is playing host to over 90 officials during the BC Summer Games, July 22 – 25, 2010. As the official ‘Official’s Village’, TWU is providing over 400 nights of free lodging.

“We are delighted to partner with a first class event that has a Provincial wide impact,” says TWU President, Jonathan Raymond, Ph.D. “The university benefits immeasurably by its involvement with the greater Langley community. It is our joy and privilege to give back whenever possible.”

TWU has a long history of involvement in the community. The connection comes from the desire to build into the network of local residents who support the University all year long. Giving back vitalizes the relationship.

“The BC Summer Games brings an elite level of competition to the Township of Langley,” says TWU Dean of Human Kinetics and BC Summer Games liaison officer, Blair Whitmarsh, Ph.D. “We are thrilled to partner with the community as hosts.”

Many of Trinity Western’s top athletes come from within a 100-mile radius of the city of Langley. It is a fertile ground for sport and activity. “Having the BC Summer Games in our community encourages our students to be involved in sport, to be active, and for some, a desire to compete at a top level – always a good thing,” explains Whitmarsh.

Raymond concludes, “The 2010 BC Games are only a success when the community rises to the occasion to support them. Langley has always risen to the challenge and the 2010 BC Games is yet another example of the Spirit which is Langley. TWU is blessed to be a part of this special, vibrant community.”
