Langley, BC — In anticipation of the Christmas season, Trinity Western University’s Concert Band and Orchestra will perform a festive program of music in Langley on Friday, Nov. 19 and Abbotsford on Friday, Nov. 26, 2010. The Orchestra will begin withThree DancesfromThe Nutcracker and follow with a lesser-known Tchaikovsky work—the folk-infused “Little Russian” Symphony No. 2. In the Concert Band portion of the evening, the listener will be invited to contemplate the mystery of the incarnation through Morton Lauridsen’s O Magnum Mysterium. The finale will attest to the power and majesty of God in David Holsinger’s stirring Sinfonia Voci.

"This term we have been exploring a broad range of emotional possibilities in the music we are preparing – emotions which run the gamut from reverent awe to jubilant enthusiasm," says Dr. Allan Thorpe, TWU Director of Instrumental Activities.
