Jazz night

Join the Trinity Western Jazz Combo on December 8th for an evening of hard swinging be-bop, cool jazz, and modern jazz. Ever wondered what it would sound like if Thelonious Monk and Bob Marley played together? One number, a mixture of Monk’s ‘Bemsha Swing’ and Marley’s ‘Lively up Yourself’ explores what that meeting might sound like. Swing on in for a tow-tapping night!

Chamber music night: TWU Woodwind Quintet and Guitar Quartets

An eclectic and entertaining variety of music will be performed by the TWU Guitar Ensemble and TWU Woodwind Quintet. Audience members will be treated to a variety of music including classical, popular and traditional standards.

When asked about the program Tim Olsen, the coach of the TWU Guitar Ensemble indicated that they will “present a journey through time on high tension wires”. This journey includes a traditional tune “Greensleeves” and the rock standard “Dust in the Wind”. A portion of Beethoven’s Quintet in E-flat will be performed by the Woodwind Quintet, as well as a quintet by Giuseppe Maria Cambini. Cambini is noted for being one of the first composers to write music for wind quintet.
