The November 21st event exceeded its half a million dollar goal, raising $639,855 in support of student scholarships and programs

Trinity Western University was delighted to honour two dedicated public servants, The Honourable Rich Coleman and The Honourable Mary Polak, at its 50th Anniversary fundraising event, Christmas in the City.

Christmas in the City was a black-tie event at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver that brought together more than 300 business and community leaders for an evening of celebration. The gala featured a congratulatory message from Prime Minister Stephen Harper, performances by Covenant award-winning group Tenore and the TWU Chamber Choir, a remarkable student journey, “Because of Christ: Education. Transformation. Impact,” and a keynote address from TWU President Jonathan S. Raymond, Ph.D.

Peter Legge, Chairman and CEO of Canada Wide Media, narrated the event. “The Tenore trio were exceptional and a definite highlight. The other highlight was the amount of money that we raised because the evening was very honouring to God and the audience felt that and responded accordingly,” said Legge, whose wife and daughter are both TWU alumnae.

At the event, TWU presented recognition awards to the Hon. Rich Coleman, Minister of Energy and Mines and Minister Responsible for Housing and the Hon. Mary Polak, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure. President Raymond stated: “For 50 years, TWU has been blessed to be in Langley. Our MLAs Rich and Mary are tirelessly dedicated to their work. If there is one word that captures their heart for Langley and BC, and their relentless drive to achieve the very best for families, the community, and the future of British Columbia, it is the word ‘others’. They understand TWU and how the University positively impacts Langley City, the Township, and the Province. We are thankful for such leaders who are truly public servants."
